Exhibitions World leaders of the 1970's - a decade of turmoil
Arundells latest exhibition explores the histories, careers, achievements and errors of nine of the most important political leaders of the decade and their relationship with Britain. Featured are Richard Nixon, Leonid Brezhnev, Mao Zedong, Willy Brandt, Indira Gandhi, Georges Pompidou, Kakuei Tanaka, Pierre Trudeau and Henry Kissinger. Little known facts are revealed : whose pallbearers included Fidel Castro and Leonard Cohen? who almost suffocated as a child in a snowdrift, who foiled a thief in the ziggurat of Ur, and who changed their name before coming to power? There are over 70 iconic photographs as well as documents from this turbulent period together with artefacts from the Arundells house collection. Among events covered are The European Referendum of 1975, the Ugandan Asian issue in 1972, Britains battles with the USA in 1973 over Middle East issues and an amusing Leonid Brezhnev/Richard Nixon encounter at Camp David. Thanks to all who have made this possible

Exhibitions Beatrix Potter: Play and Childhood
A very special exhibition – the only one in the south of England - marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Beatrix Potter.

You’ll find 30 original drawings and watercolours by perhaps the world’s most beloved children’s illustrator and author, alongside a small selection of rare vintage Beatrix Potter dolls and figurines. The exhibition showcases some of Beatrix Potter’s most famous characters, whilst taking you on a journey into the world of play and childhood, from Peter Rabbit’s naughty antics to the Two Bad Mice as they wreak havoc in a doll’s house.

This is a unique opportunity to see these original artworks: due to light sensitivity, they are rarely exhibited outside of their permanent home in the Lake District.

Accompanying our exhibition is a fantastic Beatrix Potter-themed adventure trail for younger visitors, inspired by her playful characters and colourful stories.

Salisbury Young Chamber - Networking event for young professionals
The Salisbury and District Young Chamber will be holding their third free networking event for young professionals aged 20-35 on Thursday 28th July starting at 6pm.

The event will take place at Legacy Rose and Crown, walking distance from the city centre.

Previous events have boasted a gathering of 50 professionals to network with so we are hopeful of another good turnout!

This session will focus on ‘Getting to know the person behind the keyboard’, we aim to provide useful hints and tips for using Twitter, some do’s and don’ts and an insight on how to remain personable yet professional on social media.

There will be a screen throughout the evening which will give a live feed on social media, where participants can connect if they would like, as well as time to network informally with like-minded individuals.
