Exhibitions "From Eye to Line 2" Exhibition by the Lemon Timers
A group of 10 artists based in the Salisbury area start their weekly workshops with a series of minute-long life poses timed by a kitchen timer in the shape of a lemon. These warm-up exercises and the all-important lemon timer are so much part of the group’s identity that they have called themselves The Lemon Timers. The group have been working together since 2005 and as well as life drawings and sketches, they paint landscapes, still lives and abstracts in a variety of styles using materials ranging from acrylics to watercolours and oils.

This autumn a selection of the group’s more recent work goes on display at Salisbury’s Fisherton Mill. The exhibition will feature approximately 30 works including an oil portrait of Anne Miller’s two young grandchildren, an abstract inspired by a painting trip to Lyme Regis by Tricia Webb, seascapes by Caroline Curtis and a view of a chalk pit near Salisbury by Heather Jones. Other works include nudes by Debra Sweeney and flower pictures by Susan Wiltshire. There are also a series of bronzes by Martin Wright, a sculpture who as well as studying life drawing, has also spent time studying movement and dance at Central St Martin’s College of Art and Design. He will be exhibiting a sculpture of an athletic male dancer, beautifully balanced with one foot on the stone plinth and the rest of his body curved outwards in a taunt curve.
