A massive countrywide plantathon of bee friendly spring bulbs! One weekend to plant one million bulbs for bees that emerge in the springtime and will be very hungry! All YOU need to do is have a packet of bulbs at the ready, and somewhere to plant them. There is even a great link on the event page too, so you can order organic bulbs now in time for this event! So get your bulbs bought, and ready! Take a picture of you and your patch of ground to be planted and upload it to the event page, telling us who you are, who got involved, what bulbs you chose, how many bulbs you planted (doesnt matter if its one or one hundred) and your commitment to bees! Use the hashtag #BigBeeWeekend Find a pocket of ground to plant up, from gardens, schools playgrounds, your street edges, community spaces, parks, verges, allotments, work places, and window boxes; for a springtime feast for bees. Get everyone you know involved! Get creative .. you can even mark out your planted spot with bees painted on pebbles and let us see that too! From a mere pot to a great big plot; stuff the ground with as many bulbs as you can and lets reach a million to really give emerging springtime bees a lift..all over the country. AND look out for another Big Bee Event in Spring, to help you give bees extra nesting areas in your space. A Bees Knees UK event. 2-Tone took the British music charts by storm in 1979, and for a short, but incredibly exciting period, turned the country into a sea of black and white check. The seven young men at the heart of this musical revolution were the Specials, a band which created a blend of musical genres, mixing punk and Jamaican ska, producing an energy not seen on stage before. The Specials led the way for other bands that joined the 2-Tone movement such as The Selecter, Madness, the Beat, and the Bodysnatchers.
The 2-Tone Tribute Tour was formed to bring back that fantastic moment in time for a generation who lived through it. It’s all about the look, the attitude and, of course, the dancing!
These iconic bands will be represented by London-based Special Kinda Madness, who play as The Specials and Madness, and The Special Brew from Cardiff who perform as Bad Manners. Two top tribute bands who tour nationally.
So dust down your pork pie hats, and put on your Fred Perry, your Harrington, your DMs or your loafers. Because you’re on for a BIG night out. Three and a half hours of live 2-Tone and ska music from your favourite bands. Let’s relive 1979 all over again!
Tributes to the Specials, Bad Manners and Madness, all on one stage.
