On the 10th October 2011 the area board dropped Salisbury Visions plans to regenerate the Market Square.
At the meeting, local councillors voted unanimously to start again with the project.
It's after the Salisbury Vision, which had been working on the plans, passed over control to the area board, following numermous petitions and public criticism of the plans.
A working group will now be put together, made up of representatives from different groups in the city, including wheelchair users, the City Council, and the Save Our Trees campaign, which has collected over 11 thousand signatures against plans to replace them.
But the idea didn't meet favour with all area board councillors - Chris Cochrane, who represents Fisherton and Bemerton Village, did not support the motion because he felt it was important not to rush into anything.
We're now being urged to fill out a survey so that as many of us can share our views as possible.
You can access it online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HYWHFSV or pick up a paper copy from Salisbury Library or the Wiltshire Council offices on Milford Street.
Salisbury Vision's director has said they'll now continue to devote time to their other 23 projects, such as redeveloping Churchfields, the Maltings, and improving transport.
