The Porton Hotel

The Porton Hotel is a warm and welcoming family run pub, and having recently undergone a complete refurbishment and change of ownership, we are proud to offer features and facilities such as open log fires, a games room, fine wines, excellent cask ales and a friendly service.

Our freshly prepared food is served Monday to Saturday between 12:00 - 3:00pm and 6:00-9:00pm. And Sunday 12:00pm until 4pm. The menu varies seasonally, however an example of some of our most popular dishes are our popular homemade lasagne, succulent chicken wrapped in bacon with a garlic sauce, and a chilli con carne. 

We also offer children's menus and a selection of vegetarian food, along with afternoon cream teas and a selection of espresso coffees.

We are now open for full English or continental breakfasts between 7am-9am weekdays and 8-10am weekends.

We host a fun and friendly quiz night every Wednesday evening at 8pm in our seperate bar area and often host seasonal events with live music and entertainment. You can privately hire our function rooms for special occasions or business meetings, where we offer a personal and professional service to cater to your specific needs. We have audio and visual equipment available to use free of charge.

Our five fully equipped en-suite rooms are available at competitively priced bed and breakfast rates. Our large car park is accessed off station approach and our large beer garden is open all year round.

We can also offer disabled access to our restaurant area, however please call in advance to organize.

Local Information

Porton is a beautiful village situated within easy reach of the historic market town of Salisbury. Southampton and Bournemouth are approximately a 35 minute drive away, and of course, Porton Down (the military and government science park) is less than one mile away.

Porton is a site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) as it constitues the largest uninterrupted tract of semi-natural chalk grassland in Britain, a habitat which elsewhere has declined by than 80% in the last 50 years. As well as the grassland there are areas of juniper scrub and of broadleaved, mixed and coniferous woodland.
