Whites held to draw

Salisbury City still remain unbeaten in the Zamaretto Southern League even after being held to another draw

It ended 1 all against Hemel Hempstead at the Ray Mac yesterday, meaning their reign at the top of the table is over, slipping to 2nd place.

Matt Wright broke the deadlock with a goal on the 70th minute for the Whites, but Dennis Fennemore was quick to equalize just 8 mintues later.

They next face Chippenham Town away tomorrow afternoon.

NEW MANAGER ANNOUNCED

The Chairman and Directors of Salisbury City Football Club have announced the appointment of both a new Manager and Assistant Manager.

Darrell Clarke is to become the full time Manager and he will be supported by Mikey Harris who takes on the role of Assistant Manager.

Managers Job

Darrell Clarke is believed to be one of two final candidates in the running for the manager's job at Salisbury City.

The club captain's been taking temporary charge of training, along with Mikey Harris, since the departure of Tommy Widdrington last month.

The club have delayed an announcement, which was due to be made at a press conference this morning.

Another Player Leaves

Chris Flood has become the latest player to depart Salisbury City.

The midfielder's set to link up with the club's former star striker, Matt Tubbs, at Crawley Town for a five figure sum.

Darrell Clarke, who's taken over coaching with Mikey Harris after the departure of Tommy Widdrington, says Flood goes with their blessing.

He's thanked him for his services to the club, and wished him all the best at Crawley Town.

Meanwhile the Whites will host Widdrington's new club, Southend United, in their next pre-season friendly tomorrow.

First Home win for Whites

Salisbury City have won their first home pre-season friendly.

They beat local rivals Bemerton Heath Harlequins 2-0, thanks to a second half goal and penalty from trial player Kayne McLaggon.

 A couple of other players also hit the woodwork.

The Whites have made a good start to their pre-season campaign, making it three wins out of four, and scoring a total of 11 goals.

One Out, Two Come In

Salisbury City has completed the signing of two more players ahead of the 2010/11 season.

Goalkeeper Ryan Pryce and full back Daniel Sheehan have both put pen to paper as the club prepares for its Zamaretto Southern League Premier season.

Pryce, formerly with AFC Bournemouth, joined City during the January transfer window on a short-term deal and made a trio of appearances for the club as understudy to then number one custodian James Bittner.

Sheehan arrives from Swansea City where he was a regular in the Welsh club’s reserves.

Nineteen-year-old Sheehan, who was born in Cwmbwrla, West Glamorgan, was released by Swansea on April 30.

Both players, who featured in last night’s 2-0 friendly win against Alton Town, have signed one year deals.

Nick Holmes Leaves Salisbury City

Nick Holmes has become the third big name to exit Salisbury City in the last two weeks.

He's left the club by mutual consent.

He's been there for 8 years, working as the Football Manager and General Manager.

Club Chairman William Harrison-Allen says:

"Nick has been a loyal servant of this club and on behalf of everyone connected with the Whites I thank him for helping to put Salisbury City FC back on the map.

"We all wish him every success in the future and he will always be welcome at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium."

TOMMY AND SOUTHEND TO VISIT THE RAY MAC FOR PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY

A revised fixture list for City's pre-season friendlies has been confirmed and now includes a home game with Npower League Two side Southend United.

Former Whites boss Tommy Widdrington became the Blues' assistant manager earlier this week and this fixture is a direct result of his departure.

He and United manager Paul Sturrock will bring their first team squad to the Ray Mac on Friday, July 23 (7.30pm kick off).

Previously arranged matches with Aldershot Town and Dorchester Town have now been cancelled, while there is a change of venue for the friendly with Andover.

City have added friendlies against near-neighbours Bemerton Heath Harlequins (at home) and Downton (away).

Whites will kick off their pre-season matches away at Alton Town on Tuesday evening (July 13) then visit Hamworthy United on Wednesday (July 14).

The club's Zamaretto Southern League Premier Division season kicks off on Saturday, August 14.
