The trek (REALLY!) begins

30th April 2019

We've now finally kicked off our trek and completed the first full day on the Great Wall of China.

It's been tough though, with some steep climbs, loads of steps and sunny conditions.

'Lead trekker' Martin Starke from Spire FM isn't quite sure where we are!

We've raised more than £100,000 for the Stars Appeal so far... we'd love to raise more though!

We've also been helping some local people while out in China too.

About £200 worth of stationery has been handed over to a local school.

Just a few more steps!

Day One on the Wall

29th April 2019

After around 24 hours of travelling, dealing with the time difference between the UK and China, and not too great a night's sleep - it's time to crack on!

The team of 49 trekkers have arrived safely in Beijing for the start of their journey!

Getting our first footsteps on the Wall itself!

The first day hasn't really involved any trekking though...

It's been more about acclimatising and getting briefings on what to expect over the next week.

We've been learning more about how the trek might pan out over the next few days

Trek 'leader', Spire FM's Martin Starke has been speaking to Chris Wright and Henrietta Creasey from China:

The Wall looks pretty imposing, but we're ready and raring to go!

Of course we're all doing this for the Stars Appeal at Salisbury District Hospital.

You can donate on the charity's online fundraising page - just put 'TREK' in the messages box.
