Older Person's Day
This Friday 29th September between 10:00 and 14:00, The Cathedral Locality at Salisbury Medical Practice will celebrate Older Person’s Day. They will do this by holding a free event that is open to all members of the public, and is not exclusive to registered patients.
European Older Person’s Day takes place on 1st October and The Cathedral Locality believe that this is something worth celebrating. The event will have free tea and coffee that is kindly donated by Tesco Extra Community Team, as well as some free homemade cake from Salisbury Medical Practice’s own Fountain Café.
The Cathedral Locality and Salisbury Medical Practice hope that this is an opportunity for older people to meet others in similar situations, and gain help and support for their day to day life. Katy Gillingham, Signposting Lead and Social Prescriber for the Older Person Team, Cathedral Locality says “There is a huge amount of support in Salisbury for older people and we hope by holding events like this, people will be able to access the information they need. It is also a chance to meet up with friends or to meet new people while enjoying some homemade cakes and tea”
The event will take place in The Wylye room in the Medical Practice which has plenty of place to sit and chat with friends or some of the many organisations that we have coming along. These organisations include Alzheimer’s Support, Action on Hearing Loss, Age UK, Wiltshire Police, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue, Carer’s Support and SWAN Advocacy.
