Salisbury and District Young Chamber - From Zero to Hero - the path of Resilience and Leadership
Salisbury and District Young Chamber invites you to our eighth free event: “From Zero to Hero - the path of Resilience and Leadership”. Join us and other young professionals aged 20-35 on Tuesday 24th October, from 5.30-8pm at the White Hart Hotel, Salisbury.
Following the huge success at a previous Young Chamber event we are delighted to announce that David Linaker is back by popular demand to deliver another interactive and lively evening focussing on the lessons (and power) in facing challenges, overcoming setbacks and finding your resilience. David’s expertise lie in his expansive leadership experience, conflict resolution and skills coaching. He will be leading our next free networking event, delivering another rousing seminar which will be both insightful and interactive, but above all will be an informal affair.
As with all our events, any young professional in the vicinity of Salisbury and its neighbouring cities are welcome to attend. Each event is free and run with our young professionals in mind. You can expect light refreshments and introductions in the opening 20 minutes, with our speaker leading the majority of the activities for an hour or so, with plenty of time for more relaxed and informal networking in the closing hour.
Make sure you join our growing numbers and sign up to “From Zero to Hero” today. This is the first step in building a stronger network, and attendance is just a few clicks away. We look forward to seeing you in October and welcoming you to the Salisbury and District Young Chamber.

Salisbury Literary Festival
The inaugural Salisbury Literary Festival (27-29 October) is the first city-wide celebration of reading and writing fiction of its kind.

Salisbury is a city with a rich literary heritage as well as a thriving local writing scene. The festival brings this writing past and present together with a diverse programme for all ages, including interactive events such as a short story competition, literary walks and writing workshops. Many events are free and the tickets for the rest cheaper than the price of a paperback.

A few highlights:
 Number one New York Times bestselling author Philippa Gregory, whose new book The Last Tudor is number one in the hardback non-fiction charts, will be in Salisbury Cathedral on Saturday 28 October;
 Author of the Sunday Times hottest bestseller of 2017, Gail Honeyman, will talk about her stunning debut, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine;
 ‘Salisbury Greats’ events to celebrate this city’s rich literary heritage: John Creasey and William Golding, and Terry Pratchett;
 We mark the 10th anniversary of Sir Charlie Stinkysocks with author and festival patron Kristina Stephenson, who will host a fancy dress party at Salisbury Library;
 Sunday 29 October is dedicated to the craft of writing, bringing together leading literary agents, publishers, authors and creative writing teachers for a mixture of workshops and discussion panels. Alongside the likes of Rupert Wallis, Suzannah Dunn and Helen Bryant, there will also be panels on children’s books and publishing.
The Perspectives on Publishing panel includes Mary-Anne Harrington, publisher of Maggie O’Farrell, whose new memoir is number one in the hardback non-fiction charts.
Festival Patron and wildly successful novelist Mark Dawson will reveal secrets of self publishing in the final session of the Writers’ Day.
