A Laboratory Support worker is required to work alongside laboratory managers, safety personnel and laboratory technicians.

A Laboratory Support worker is required to be part of the critical operational support within EAG, working alongside laboratory managers, safety personnel and laboratory technicians. Their primary role is to assist with a variety of tasks associated with the day-to-day operation of EAG. 


We are looking for someone who has: 
• Experience of working in a laboratory or similar complex infrastructure 
• Experience of working independently and under minimal supervision 
• Experience of working in a high tempo environment with the ability to prioritise tasks and workload under pressure 


In this role you will: 
• Monitor and maintain equipment and instrumentation to ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory and buildings 24/7 
• Order and transport stock/consumables and other items, as required 
• Support the maintenance of the facilities, vehicles and plant in line with Dstl management systems to ensure all quality and health and safety standards are met 
• Escort visitors and contractors 
Job Dimensions 
This role supports the safe operation of EAG (24/7) according to the required quality standards as part of the provision of critical national capability to the Police and Military, both in the UK and overseas. 
Skills 
Essential
 
• A proven ability to prioritise tasks and workload under pressure 
• Attention to detail 
• Ability to work with minimal mentoring and supervision, whether working independently or as part of a team. 

Desirable 
• An understanding of explosives 
• An understanding of forensic science and the Criminal Justice System 
• An understanding of defence and/or security. 
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures 
Security Clearance 
All Dstl positions require full UK security clearance and all candidates should have resided in the UK for the past 5 years. Due to the work carried out this role is not open to Dual Nationals.

Salary:
Between £16,000 and £17,500 Per Annum
