The Life & Influence of Nelson Mandela supporting Alabaré

A talk by Reverend Colin Chambers, former chaplain to Nelson Mandela in Robben Island prison. All proceeds in aid of our work with homeless and vulnerable people in Wiltshire.

Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in jail under South Africa’s apartheid government, including 18 years in the notorious prison 'Robben Island' off the coast of Cape Town. Nelson Mandela was finally released from prison on February 11, 1990 and went on to become President of South Africa and one of the 20th Century's most influential figures.

Rev Colin Chambers was chaplain to Nelson Mandela for eight years, supporting him and other inmates at Robben Island prison. Colin will share his extraordinary stories of Nelson Mandela, providing a fascinating insight into the life of the global icon. Join us at St. Paul's Church, Salisbury in aid of local homeless charity Alabaré.
