We've been taking a look back at the celebs who've helped to bring the festive season to the city over the last five years.

The Salisbury City Council Christmas Light Switch-on for 2018 takes place on Thursday night (November 15th).

This time, Olympic silver medal winning sprint hurdler Colin Jackson has been tasked with doing the honours.

In recent years, the event's attracted thousands of us along to see the festivities, including live music and fireworks displays.

And there's been some famous faces coming to Salisbury to help officially kick off the Christmas season - but how many of the celebrity switchers can you remember?

2017 - ANTONY COTTON

The Coronation Street actor, who plays Sean Tully in the soap, came down from Manchester last year to help out at the Salisbury City Council event.

While he was in South Wiltshire, Antony also spent some time visiting local soldiers at Tidworth and Bulford, in his role as an ambassador for local charity Help for Heroes.

2016 - JOEY ESSEX

This was an 'interesting' year for the festive light switch-on - with former The Only Way is Essex star Joey pulling in the crowds.

He met the then Mayor of Salisbury, Councillor Derek Brown, and *genuinely* thought he was the 'King of Salisbury!

2015 - JAKE WOOD

EastEnders' Max Branning did the honours in Salisbury three years ago - fresh from his time in Strictly Come Dancing and taking a break from the show.

He spent some time on stage with Spire FM's Martin Starke and Pat Sissons:

2014 - STEVE MCFADDEN

Soap hardman Steve, who plays Phil Mitchell, has also been to Salisbury for the Christmas light switch-on.

This was the year with the infamous fireworks display from the roof of the Guildhall that didn't quite go as planned.

2013 - CRAIG REVEL HORWOOD

The Strictly Come Dancing judge turned on the lights back in 2013 as he has a house in West Hampshire, so it's his 'local' festive event.

He impressed the crowds with probably the best jacket the Market Place stage has ever seen!
