Users of Mumsnet have rated their best and worst presents - and there are a few surprises on the list!

We've all been given some weird and wonderful gifts but some of these take the biscuit...

Mumsnet have released some of the most random presents their users told them they have been given;

  • "A bottle of wine with the meal deal sticker still on it"
  • "An XXXL see-through chiffon top (I was a size 10)"
  • "A doll made out of prunes"
  • "A Sophie's Choice DVD"
  • "Four litres of catering-size ketchup"
  • "A red PVC thong - from my husband's auntie"
  • "A 500 piece jigsaw (I was four)"
  • "Car cleaning fluid"

Celebrity autobiographies were rated badly with 74% of just over 1,700 members saying they'd regift them, whilst 5% would throw them away.

68% said they would regift celebrity perfumes or give them to a good cause.

Just 1%, yes 1%, would like to receive socks... but 95% would still keep them (quickly takes back socks for dad).

Christmas socks
We all love Christmas socks...right?

Mumsnet Founder Justine Roberts said:

"There are those who would love a gift of Britney-brand scent, those who would be politely grateful for it, and those who would interpret it as a grave insult.

"If you want to play it safe, it looks as though vouchers or classic perfume are the way to go.

"If you really do want to insult someone, get them some ketchup."

94% of users would keep a food hamper, with the same amount saying they'd keep underwear/pyjamas chosen by their other half.

83% would keep spa vouchers too (if you want to regift those, there are some radio presenters who would love them...)

17% would get rid of spa vouchers...

Others were rated well like money or handbags - but it was the personal ones that went down best.

Here are some of the favourites sent in;

  • "An iPod preloaded with my favourite tunes - I cried"
  • "A necklace with my children's names on"
  • "A spirograph when I was eight, a marriage proposal when I was 45"
