There's been chaos and confusion outside Aldi stores as shoppers scramble for Kevin the Carrot.

The character features in the supermarket's Christmas adverts, but shoppers have been left angry after the toy sold out in a matter of hours - along with Kevin's wife Katie and their three baby carrots.

There is a smaller version costing £3.99 but that's only available in stores - cue the queues!

The cuddly carrots only went on sale on Thursday but have already sold out with reports of fights breaking out in stores too.

An Aldi spokesperson called the demand "exceptionally high."

"To avoid any disappointment, this year we increased the range by adding new characters such as Pascal the Parsnip, as well as the amount of soft toys available in each store.

"We also limited purchases to two variants per customer so as many people as possible had the chance to buy these products. As with all our Specialbuys products, these are only available while stocks last."

Those successful at bagging a Kevin showed off their achievements on social media.

Last year, the toys were put on sale on eBay, with a price tag of £1,000, according to the Sun.

This year's toys are already available on eBay.

It's the third year Aldi has used Kevin in its festive ads. Now the ads also feature the wicked Pascal the parsnip - but one of this year's offerings was left in a cliffhanger... literally.
