We've got a rundown of where's best to get rid of the tree once the decorations come down.

All of our local councils have put plans in place to allow us to dispose of real trees responsibly.

There are also schemes that can help local charities too.

If you pay to have your garden waste collected by Wiltshire Council, you can put your real tree out for recycling with your green bin.

They'll be collected on the first collection date in January.

Green waste collections will resume from Tuesday January 8th.

The trees that are recycled are being chipped up and turned into mulch

Salisbury Hospice Charity is also taking part in a tree recycling scheme where they'll pick up our trees in return for a donation to them.

A portion of that will also go to the Salisbury branch of the MS Society.

The District Council is running a Christmas tree recycling service in the New Year, with a number of local collection points.

Here's the list of collection points in the New Forest:

  • Brockenhurst - Brookley Road car park
  • Fordingbridge - A338 slip road car park
  • Hythe - New road car park
  • Lymington - St Thomas Street
  • Lyndhurst - Village centre car park
  • New Milton - Crossmead Avenue car park
  • Ringwood - The Furlong car park
  • Totton - Westfield car park

All those sites will be open between the 2nd and 13th January 2019.

A Christmas tree recycling service is being set up by the Borough Council between Friday December 28th and Monday January 14th.
