The flagship fundraiser for Naomi House and Jacksplace is proving as popular as ever this year.

The charity tells us they've now got 500 people due to take part in the 26 mile walk across the Wiltshire and Hampshire countryside.

This year's event is on Sunday June 2nd with organisers still hoping to get more of us signed up to support the specialist children's hospice.

The route begins at Winchester Cathedral early in the morning, before making their way through the nearby Farley Mount Country Park.

It'll then take walkers through King's Somborne, Houghton, Broughton, Winterslow and Pitton, before passing close to the site of Clarendon Palace on the approach to Salisbury.

The finish line is in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral.

The full 26 mile route is described as tough and all terrain, and will be a full day's hiking for those involved.

But there is a shorter option of 12 miles, starting from Broughton and ending at Salisbury Cathedral.

As well as the walkers doing their bit for Naomi House, the charity's also got the support of more than 100 volunteers who give up their time to make sure the event runs smoothly.

That includes a team from Winchester's Army Training Regiment.

The event is the charity's biggest fundraiser of the year - bringing in more than £100,000 to them last year.

That money will support families with children and young adults that have life-limiting conditions.

Charlotte Patrick, Events Fundraiser for Naomi House & Jacksplace, said:

"The Clarendon Way Walk is a hugely important event for our hospices and this year's walk looks set to be a huge success. Walkers can expect beautiful scenery, great comradeship and fabulous weather alongside unrivalled support and organisation. We hope the event will raise enough money to fund more than 5,000 hours of high quality nursing care, which is so desperately needed by seriously ill local children, young adults and their families. It's a challenging but enjoyable event, and a great way to get fit and explore some of Hampshire and Wiltshire's most beautiful countryside."

Places on the Clarendon Way Walk cost £24 for adults and £18 for under 18's.

Everyone taking part is also asked to collect sponsorship for the charity where possible too.
