The countdown is on and from next week, we can book tickets for the three-day event at Hudson's Field.

The national event for Armed Forces Day will take place between June 28th and 30th, and is expected to be the biggest event in Wiltshire this year.

From next Wednesday (May 15th) we'll be able to book tickets, which are free of charge, for the event.

We can book up to six tickets per person, via the Wiltshire Council website.

Tickets are needed to help manage numbers going to the events safety, and for security reasons.

You'll be able to secure tickets for single days or the whole weekend.

Salisbury National Armed Forces Day 100 days to go March 2019

The event is aimed at 'honouring and saying thank you to our Armed Forces and all they do to protect our country and keep us safe'.

Salisbury's been chosen to host the national celebrations this year, with 50 days to go until it all kicks off.

It's already been announced that the Princess Royal will be coming along to the event on Saturday June 29th.

There'll also be military parades, flypasts, live music, activities and much more.

Baroness Scott of Bybrook OBE, Leader of Wiltshire Council, said:

"In just 50 days Salisbury will play host to one of the most important dates in the military calendar. Today we're announcing that tickets for this three day spectacular will be available online from next Wednesday. There's huge interest in Armed Forces Day National Event so my advice is to book your tickets early to come and join us for what promises to be a wonderful event here in Wiltshire.

"We're a proud military county and we're looking forward to recognising and celebrating our Armed Forces and the vital role they play. We'll also be honouring our veterans and welcoming HRH The Princes Royal to Salisbury. This event will be a unique and special event so come and join us."

Sunday focuses on veterans and young people - those who have served and those who may serve - with a commemoration and drumhead service, supported by the Royal British Legion, with the Bishop of Salisbury and padres leading the service.

There will also be the opportunity to help creating a beautiful human poppy in the main arena.

The first day of the event (Friday June 28th) is aimed at giving current military personnel and their families a chance to go along to a huge barbecue at Hudson's Field.

Serving armed forces members can now apply for tickets to go along - you can get hold of those via the Tickets for Troops website.

Wiltshire Council leader, Jane Scott said:

"We're delighted to be making 10,000 free barbecue tickets available to our military personnel and their families. We are inviting them to come along and enjoy a lovely afternoon and evening at Hudson's Field as a thank you for all they do for us and our country. There will be lots to see and do across the showground ending with live entertainment on the main stage. This is an opportunity for our armed forces personnel to enjoy time with their families as our guests."
