Pupils at St Joseph's Catholic School in Laverstock have been writing their own positive mantras to inspire each other.

It's been an exercise at school as part of celebrations to mark Pentecost - the Holy Day which falls 50 days after Easter Sunday.

They've also been marking their efforts by creating four huge letters on the field, with the pupils spelling out HOPE on the ground to be seen overhead.

Spreading messages of hope is something the school has done in recent years, but has previously seen the students releasing balloons with their mottos attached.

Messages of Hope have been spread by St Joseph's pupils over recent years

That was changed this year due to environmental concerns, so the pupils wanted to use a 'digital' approach to spread the messages instead.

WHAT MESSAGES OF HOPE WERE THERE?

Every tutor group at St Joseph's came up with their own mantras.

There's also one that's been thought up by the children at St Osmund's Primary School in Salisbury.

Some of the messages of hope put forward by the students include:

  • There is a light at the end of the tunnel
  • Don't look back with regret, look forward with hope
  • Let your smile change the world. Don't let the world change your smile
  • You haven't failed, you just haven't succeeded yet!
  • All journeys start with the first step

You can read the rest of the school's messages on their website.

St Joseph's headteacher Rachel Ridley, said:

"We're absolutely thrilled with this celebration and excited to be able to share our messages of hope with the world. It's something that the whole school community has been a part of and is something of which we can all be extremely proud."
