The football club's looking forward to a bright future ahead of the new season.

After suffering relegation to the Sydenhams Wessex League Division One at the end of the campaign, Bemerton Heath Harlequins are taking the opportunity to give things a bit of a refresh.

Changes have been made both on and off the pitch with the aim of moving the club forward.

Harlequins' new ethos is to build the club as not just a business, but more importantly, as a community.

FOOTBALL COMES FIRST

There's a atmosphere of excitement around the Western Way clubhouse at the moment, ahead of pre-season fixtures.

New manager Ian Saunders has been brought in, with a raft of players pledging their support for the new regime.

Some of them are well-known faces on the local football scene:

Ex-Salisbury FC star Eddie Perrett, and Bemmy favourite Jake Rawkins are joined by new signings Danny Finnigan, Ben White, Sean Wain and Adam Pearson.

Gaffer Saunders is also a serving soldier, so he's drawn on that experience to bring in fellow troops REME soldier Martin Burkhill, and Ryan Lewis, who serves in the Royal Artillery, to be part of the squad.

Players staying at the club following last season include Dan Kempson, Danny Field, Scott Hassell, Kieran Winman, Charlie Young, James Lightfoot and Jake Burgess.

As well as footballing changes, there are plans to attract more visitors to the clubhouse too - including to the beer garden

CLUBHOUSE UPGRADES

Off the pitch, there's some big changes planned too, in a push to give the Bemerton Heath community a place they can call home - even if the football isn't their thing.

There are plans to make the garden a popular space for families, encourage more people to use the clubhouse on a regular basis, and make changes to the hospitality areas to include a conference room.
