We sent our newsreader Ellie Harries to see how scary it really is...

If you've ever thought about completing a tandem skydive - here's what you need to know.

Ellie took on the 'scary' feat last week to put some myths to bed.

She had always said she had wanted to jump out of a plane before but it was one to check off the bucket list at a later date - until GoSkydive got involved.

Ellie was signed up to jump from 15,000ft, around 3 miles up, attached to Alex the instructor.

Before going up in the plane there were several steps to complete first.

  • Form signing, including clarifying next of kin and confirming medical records were correct
  • A full induction, with a member of staff talking you through the whole process (safety, kit and what not to do)
  • Getting kit fitted - jumpsuit, hat and goggles
  • Training - what to do in the harness and what NOT to do

Here's how she got on when she went up in the air:

GoSkydive is the UK's only specialist 'first-timer' Tandem Skydiving Centre and 40,000 have jumped with the instructors already.

On their website it says:

"If you’ve never skydived before – you’ve come to the right place.

"Our team of professional skydive instructors and support staff are specially trained to work with first-time tandem skydivers.

"We are regulated by the British Parachute Association adhering to their strict regulations.

"We use the very best industry leading parachute technology and our core team of professional tandem skydive instructors have done in excess of 50,000 jumps."

Their parachutes are packed on site by their own team of packers, with a reserve chute packed by an industry approved specialist team off site.

It's simple to do, all you need is a computer or a phone and you're good to go.

You can book through their website here or call 01722 442967.

The team have plenty of options for tandem skydives, with added video packages available to be added like Ellie did.

So what's stopping you is what Ellie is asking:

"It was genuinely one of the best experiences I've ever had. Heights and falling aren't something I'm a massive fan of but I was made to feel so at ease by everyone involved at GoSkydive.

"From the front desk, to the induction - the team who fitted my kit and my instructor Alex, my nerves were calmed and they made me enjoy it so much.

"So face your fears and give it a go!"
