The 6 foot tall statue is of a female rabbit doing yoga - and it's going up on Salisbury Street.

The figure's been made by Salisbury artist Paul Hawthorn, to promote his new exhibition at the Amesbury Art Gallery.

Paul's well-known locally for his projects including painting the peregrine inspired peregrine falcon murals at St Osmund's Pre-School, and wall art at the Stonehenge Inn in Durrington and the Yew Tree in Odstock.

A collection of his work called 'Standing Strong' is being displayed at the Amesbury Art Gallery from August 23rd.

To mark that, a sculpture's being put up outside the gallery today (Wednesday July 31st).

We're told 'Standing Strong' is a series of portraits based on the 12 main yoga poses, but with a bit of a twist.

Paul practices yoga himself and says it's helped him mentally, physically and with his overall wellbeing.

The rabbit sculpture is in the 'standing bow' position, with the outstretched hand being a symbol for mental health issues.

The figure will be seen in Amesbury's Salisbury Street over the next few weeks

The statue's going up this afternoon and will remain until the exhibition finishes on September 6th.
