More than 30 Wessex Water volunteers have helped make a number of improvements to the facilities at Old Sarum.

The Development and Garden Centre, run by homeless charity Alabare provides training and new opportunities for vulnerable adults.

The  volunteers who attended were split into four separate groups, with each group taking on different tasks.

The team got to grips with all sorts of jobs, including a new lick of paint for the fence!

Laura Knight, who is the community engagement officer at Alabare, said:

"It was fantastic to receive support from Wessex Water's volunteers who helped to paint fences, renovate a large container, and build raised flower beds, bird boxes and a picnic bench.

"They also kindly donated £3,333 to helps us purchase new IT equipment for our IT suite which is used by the people we support on a regular basis.

"Our development centre has been made that little bit more special for the people who visit thanks to Wessex Water's support."

"As part of our Water Force volunteering programme, the volunteering day at Alabare was a real success and our whole team came away feeling like they had made a real difference.

"It was great to be able to support the charity by making improvements to their facilities while also learning directly from Alabare's staff about the work they carry out in their community."
