The charity's calling on trekkers to part in the challenge along the Ridgeway this summer to support them.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance (WAA) is one of the events main charity partners, and they're hoping it'll bring in plenty of fundraising for the lifesaving service.

The challenge sees people travelling 100 kilometres along 'Britain's oldest path' - the Ridgeway - from Oxfordshire to the Avebury stone circle back in Wiltshire.

The 'Race to the Stones' takes place on the weekend of the 4th and 5th July 2020.

Competitors can choose whether they complete the 100 kilometres in one go, or split it across two days and camp out for the night halfway through.

It's open to both runners and walkers to take on.

Last year, £12,000 was raised for Wiltshire Air Ambulance by people taking on the challenge.

Kenresa Stratford, events co-ordinator at Wiltshire Air Ambulance, said:

"By taking part in this exciting event you'll be following in the footsteps of travellers who roamed the ancient Ridgeway path over 5,000 years ago. You'll experience some stunning countryside and the camaraderie of those who are taking on the challenge with you.

"This year is a special one for Wiltshire Air Ambulance as it is our 30th year of flying and saving lives and what better way to mark the occasion by completing an ultra marathon!"
