The pre-school is bringing a fresh new approach to their teaching with the aim of taking learning outside.

The South Street site opened late last year, replacing what was the Kingfisher Montessori.

They're now looking to expand what they do to more families, with a new ethos for learning.

Wild Kingfishers take a huge pride in their outdoor space and EXPLORE their 'natural and real-life resources' as much as possible.

The pre-school has wild gardens all around them which are used all year round, to give children the chance to learn about the changing seasons and the local environment.

Regular trips are also taken into Wilton town centre, the local library, and once a year, the Fire Station.

The teaching also help the little ones 'develop skills for life' through PLAY based learning,

Their focus is on building speech and communication skills; independence; resilience; respect for themselves and each other; problem solving; and risk taking.

Deputy Manager, Miss Lorna said:

"Through child led learning, we are following the children's lead and allowing them to direct their play and learning and our highly skilled teachers will create further opportunities for learning to take place. We live in the moment at Wild Kingfishers and every day is different."

Wild Kingfishers now has places available for children aged 2 to 4.

A typical day for them is between 8.30am and 3.00pm, but they are looking at the possibility of extending opening hours if there's a demand.

The pricing structure for the pre-school is aimed at being as simple as possible, to make it more accessible to parents.

  • 2 year olds can take part in sessions for £5.50 per hour
  • 3 and 4 year olds are £5.00 per hour
