How to keep your kids busy in Salisbury this half term!

There are lots of activities happening across the city today (Wednesday 19th February) and the rest of the week.

It can often be a struggle to keep your kids entertained for half term breaks, but there a number of FREE events taking place around the city.

THE CIRCUS IS COMING TO TOWN

Today, Salisbury City Council is running an activity to give youngsters a chance to try their hand at a few circus skills. 

Between 10am-3pm in the Guildhall Square, they will have the opportunity have a go at things like aerial arts, unicycles, juggling and hula hooping. 

They are also holding different events for the rest of the week: 

  • Thursday - fabric design craft workshops
  • Friday - craft your own dream catchers
  • Saturday - make clay birds and nests

FROM THE SEA TO THE SHOPPING MALL

Fresh from their latest underwater adventure, The Octonauts are visiting the Old George Mall today. 

Captain Barnacles and his crewmate Kwazii from the popular kids TV show will be appearing at five times throughout the day to meet and greet their fans. 

  • 11am
  • 12pm
  • 1:30pm
  • 2:30pm
  • 3:30pm

Arnold Catterall, centre manager at Old George Mall, said: 

"We had a great day last year when we welcomed Tiny the Dinosaur to Salisbury and we're very excited to be hosting Captain Barnacles and Kwazii during the upcoming half-term.

They are two iconic characters that incredibly popular with children right across the country and we're delighted that so many local children in the area will get to meet them first-hand."

SOMETHING SPORTY

The city council are also holding multi-sport sessions for children aged between 7 and 14

At 1pm today, the three hour event will take place at Bishopdown Sports Field

The young people will have the chance to try out a range of games including football, hockey, basketball, cricket and the lesser known 'tchoukball'

On Thursday it will happen at Harnham Recreation Ground and Friday's session will be held on Pinewood Way in Bemerton Heath.
