While fewer people are able to physically travel on services, they're given bus fans a chance to keep their minds active.

Salisbury Reds has come up with some activities we can download for their website and have a go at from home.

There's plenty to try:

  • Art - design your own bus
  • English - write a 100 word story or poem about a bus journey
  • Fashion - come up with a new uniform for Salisbury Reds drivers
  • Geography - a quiz based on following route plans
  • Home Economics - can you make a bus themed cake or dessert?
  • Maths - questions on how much bus fares cost and working out timetables
  • Puzzle - spot the differences in a picture of a bus journey

Salisbury Reds head of communications, Nikki Honer said:

"We know many young people living in our area love buses, because we've had so many requests for visits to our depot in recent years.

"Those who have come to see us in the past have had incredible knowledge of our timetables and bus numbers - particularly young visitors who have autism because they have an extraordinary talent for memorising this type of information. They also love nothing more than a bus ride around the city whenever they get the opportunity.

"Sadly, that isn't possible right now, and these are testing times - both for them and for their parents and guardians. So we want to give them something a little different and fun to focus on."

We're being encouraged to show off our designs and top marks on the Salisbury Reds social media pages, using #busschool

When the coronavirus outbreak is over and things start getting back to normal, the bus operator will be able to offer prizes for the best efforts.
