Some of the city's stylists are hopeful that they'll be able to start cutting hair from early next month.

The Government has yet to confirm a date for the reopening of salons, but has previously suggested that they're working on a provisional date of Saturday 4th July.

That's led many of Salisbury's businesses to start putting plans in place to prepare for welcoming customers back.

Among them is the Jas Hair Group, which has branches on Salisbury's New Street, in Wilton and at Parkwood on Salisbury's London Road.

They've been putting protective measures in place to protect customers and staff - and say they have 'all the recommeded PPE' ready.

More than 1,000 appointments have already been booked by customers looking to secure a spot for reopening.

Owner Jayne Prigent said:

"Our guests have been super impressed in our attention to detail and the importance of health and safety for our team and guests alike. We have held Zoom webinars with all our team and have two days booked in the salons for our team for PPE training and getting our own hair sorted before we open!"

The High Street salon is also making preparations to reopen, posting a notice in their window about the measures they're taking.

They're also working towards the 4th July date to start welcoming customers in again.

The salon's asking people wanting appointments to get in touch via email or by booking online.

A number of measures are being put in place at the Catherine Street salon, in time for the reopening.

They include temperature checks for staff, encouraging cashless payments and asking customers not to arrive before their appointment time.

Screens are also being installed to separate the stylists' chairs:

Other measures include:

  • Screen at the reception desk
  • Hand sanitiser for clients on entrance and exit for of the salon
  • Customers asked to wear surgical face mask, these can be purchased from them for £1
  • Staff to wear PPE at all times, with only two stylists working at a time
  • No dry cuts will be available
  • All equipment will be disinfected in between clients, with appointments spread out to allow for cleaning time
