Our city's come second on a list of places in the supplier's region for ordering one of their free 'water saving packs'.

Almost 700 people across Salisbury have been making a conscious effort to save water by asking for items like more efficient showerheads, aerators for bag and a cistern bag for single-flush toilets.

The measures that are included in the packs can save households up to 60 litres of water a day.

Only Wareham in Dorset saw more people requesting help from Wessex Water, relative to its population.

Wessex Water's head of water resources Paul Saynor said:

"Saving water is really important, especially with people spending more time at home than usual at the moment. Not only could you save money if you're on a water meter, but you'll help to keep more water in the environment.

"It's encouraging to see so many people looking to become more water efficient by requesting our free water saving pack, which is full of handy devices that can be fitted around the home to reduce flow rates or encourage behaviour changes, without affecting quality of life."

The supplier's asking to think carefully about other ways to could save water - like swapping from a hose to a watering can in the garden, or choosing the right time to water:
