The Lover Community Trust wants to raise the money to buy the former Redlynch Primary School building.

Villagers in one local community have pulled together to buy a former primary school.

Redlynch Primary School in Lover closed in 2006 and although briefly used as a private nursery has been empty for the most part.

The Lover Community Trust raised £70,000 in just four weeks to buy the building from the Salisbury Diocese and the Diocesan Board of Education.

Around £40,000 now needs to be raised to bring the building (pictured below) into use.

It's hoped the site will provide a permanent home for the local pre school which is currently housed in temporary buildings as well as being used by the wider community.

Salisbury law firm Trethowans are providing free legal services for the Lover Community Trust.

Nick Gibbs is the chairman of the Village School Working Party:

"In our wildest dreams no one could have imagined we would be in this position one year after forming the Working Party. It is testimony to the very special people who populate this very special place. Armed with such strong community belief in the future, the new Lover Community Trust will soon begin the task of turning this into a hive of community activity.

"That may take time but it seems that local people are up to the task. The future of this site will be what we make it and the Trust will make every effort to involve everyone, that wishes, in its future."
