The Tisbury leisure centre and other facilities there have seen plenty more people using them, just a month after they opened.

It's been a month since it opened and the Nadder Centre is already at the heart of the community - that's the verdict from the people who are using the facilities day in, day out.

Tisbury is just a village but is home to one of the best new leisure centres in the county.

Wiltshire Council's invested millions in start-of-the-art facilities which include a library, children's centre, business units, fitness suite and sports hall.

Librarian Peter Waterman says that the range of things to do at the centre, means that people vary why they come there:

"Now we've got the facilities here for hall, we can have events in there and any of the organisations can come in for meetings. You've got the sports facilities here and the pre-school and school right next door. We've seen a lot of people coming in to use the library who have come up to use it for one service and then also use another because it's all in one place."

Deputy Leader of Wiltshire Council, John Thomson, says the locals have reacted well to the new centre:

"The use of the leisure centre has gone up by over 1500 people across all the activities. People are changing their habits and set ups around the centre now so it's really positive.

"The best part about it is that it's fantastic that a rural area like this has had an 8 million pound investment when it's usually the towns get that. I think it's going to be really important for the rural community because normally they don't have this kind of facility on their back door. We are finding that people are coming in from the surrounding areas which is great."
