One woman's misery in Salisbury is a reminder to us all about keeping personal belongings secure.

It took less than 10 seconds for a thief to lift her purse from her handbag.

The incident happened at around 11:20am on Thursday 9th March 2017, inside the Aldi store on London Road.

A man removed the woman's purse from her handbag which was in her shopping trolley. The purse contained cash and a number of cards.

Police say the man is described as white, around 5 feet 4 and of slight build. He's believed to be in his mid to late 40s with balding hair. He was wearing a black leather jacket and dark trousers.

CCTV images have been released of a man Police want to speak to in connection with the theft (see gallery below).

PC John Bellis told Spire FM:

"The victim left her handbag attended for no more than 10 seconds, unfortunately this was long enough for the man to steal her purse. I would advise everyone to always keep their valuables on their person and out of sight."

Anyone with any information is asked to phone PC Bellis on 101, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.

There's been a few purse thefts in Salisbury supermarkets in recent weeks - Spire FM reported on this incident along with two others happening in the space of just 24 hours.
