Arrest over human trafficking claims at A30 car wash

More details have been revealed about that closure of the A30 at Firsdown yesterday afternoon (Thursday August 10th) - it was a raid on the hand car wash there.

A 20-year-old man's been arrested on suspicion of human trafficking offences and is being questioned by police at the moment.

Officers have also taken 3 children under the age of 9 away from the Shiny Hand Car Wash and put under police protection for the time being.

Another three people are getting support from specially trained officers.

Enquiries are still ongoing, after police were first called out in the early hours of Thursday morning and then returned later in the day.

In addition to the road closure, armed police were spotted on the scene.

Inspector Pete Sparrow said:

"Wiltshire Police will continue to work with all appropriate agencies to ensure safeguarding measures are put in place to protect vulnerable people."
