28 year old Aiden McCulloch admitted the theft of £11,500 worth of music equipment.

A man's been jailed after admitting stealing so much DJ equipment from a Salisbury business that it left them 'at real risk of financial collapse'.

28 year old Aiden McCulloch from Thetford in Norfolk booked the music kit for hire from a company here back in November 2016 and even paid a deposit for it.

He came down to collect the equipment but he didn't take back the items, worth £11,500.

He also became aggressive and verbally abusive to the owners when they chased it up.

Wiltshire Police have worked with Norfolk Constabulary on the investigation.

He was sentenced at Winchester Crown Court last week (Thursday September 21st) and been handed a 12 month prison term.

PC David Griffith of the Community Policing Team based at Bourne Hill, said:

"This case involved a small, hard-working local company providing an honest service to the public. Then, due to the callous and calculated actions of McCulloch, they were left without their equipment and at real risk of financial collapse. This was understandably extremely upsetting and distressing.

"The company's rental procedures were well defined, adhered to and provided a solid foundation for the investigation process to start from, which helped lead to this sentence of imprisonment imposed by the court.

"Although sadly the equipment was never recovered, I hope this case sends a clear message that we will, where necessary, work with our colleagues across the country to ensure justice is done."
