Fright for Salisbury man woken by burglars

Householder comes downstairs in the dead of night after hearing sounds of breaking glass, only to find doors wide open.

Two men have been taken into custody after reports of a burglary in Salisbury.

It happened in the St Martins Church Street area (pictured) yesterday morning (Thurs 12 October).

The householder was woken up around 4.40 a.m. by the sound of glass smashing.

When he went downstairs to investigate, he found the patio doors to his home were wide open and saw a man running away.

Police were called and got a description of the man. Officers managed to stop someone matching the description in Gigant Street.

A second man was also arrested nearby and addresses associated with the pair were searched and numerous items of suspected stolen property were located and seized. It's not believed these items are linked to the initial report of burglary.

Both men, who're aged 23, were arrested on suspicion of burglary. Police enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with further information about this incident should call police on 101.
