Landford based charity launches Christmas appeal to help refugees in Uganda and Greece.

After all the sweets and chocolate we'll eat over the Christmas period, our tooth brushes will be the first things we turn to.

We're told to brush our teeth twice a day, but for some people that's just not possible.

Refugees in crisis across the world are struggling to get fresh water and dental care just isn't something they can afford right now.

This is where Dentaid, a charity based in Landford, come in - they want to provide free dental care for everyone who can't access it.

They've worked in Uganda for over 15 years now but want to expand and help those all over.

They've just launched their Christmas appeal for 2017 and they're aiming to give every refugee in Uganda and Greece access to dentristy this year.

Jill Harding from the charity explains why they've chosen those places:

They're hoping to raise around £500 a day which will fund 10 Ugandan Dentists to the camps to run clinics for people in desperate need of dental care.

The Wiltshire charity want to also send portable dental equipment to nearby villages and hopefully convert a room into a clinic.

Meanwhile in Moria Camp, on the island on Lesvos in Greece around 7,000 refugees are crammed into a camp designed for less than half that number.

Jane LeLean from the charity said.

"We treated 300 people here in a week but we know we only scratched the surface and many more need urgent dental care. People are in terrible pain and have severe dental infections.

"It's essential that Dentaid continues its work in Moria Camp."

Any money that's donated through the Christmas Appeal will go directly to helping these refugees so please find out how you can donate and help here:
