A huge refurbishment's underway at Salisbury's City Hall, with the aim of 'improving the experience' for customers.

Work's already started in the foyer of the building, with the old carpets pulled up and everything taken off the walls too.

That will all be redecorated over the next few weeks with the bar also being moved to make it easier for visitors to use.

New seating's also being brought in for the main hall too.

Here's how it's looking at the moment:

It's costing £340,000 funded by Wiltshire Council, as they own the building.

A spokesperson for the authority said:

"We are currently carrying out some improvement and refurbishment works at City Hall to improve the customer experience and facilities provided at this venue. The retractable seating in the auditorium is no longer fit for purpose and must be replaced. The foyer, meeting rooms and conference space are being redecorated, and the bar will be relocated to meet customer demand; particularly at large and well attended events.

"The investment will help to ensure the future sustainability of City Hall through the opportunities to increase income from a new, larger and more accessible bar, along with the hire of space in the building for multi-purpose use. City Hall attracts high-profile performers and events to Salisbury which supports the local economy, tourism and vibrancy of the city. The investment will improve the overall customer experience."

The work's being done now as it's a quiet time for the venue - there aren't any events planned in the auditorium until February 3rd.

The box office at City Hall remains open at normal times throughout the work.
