Salisbury pipped to 'romantic city' title

Salisbury's been pipped at the post when it comes to finding the UK's most romantic city.

Our area had been shortlisted as one of the top 10 possible winners of a poll by

The Trip Advisor company has put forward the cities that we can choose from, based on ratings and reviews of properties that can be rented out for getaways.

Salisbury came in 6th place in the poll - but local rivals Bath and Winchester fared much better, taking the top and runners-up spots.

Laurel Greatrix, a spokesperson for Holiday Lettings, explained why Salisbury had been put on the list in the first place:

"Travellers should consider Salisbury for a romantic getaway. Salisbury offers plenty to explore during the day, like Norman ruins and nearby Stonehenge, and a bustling culinary and nightlife scene to complete your trip.

"Rentals are great for cosy getaways. Booking a rental lets travellers enjoy the comforts and amenities of home, like extra space, living rooms, and kitchens while on holiday."


Salisbury finished a respectable mid-table in the standings for the UK's most romantic city.
