Jen Kehoe is a guide skiier for a competitor that only has 5% vision - but they're going for gold!

As we enjoy the thrills and spills of the Winter Olympics on TV at the moment, for one Old Sarum woman, it's a glimpse into what she'll be doing for real in a few weeks time.

Jen Kehoe (pictured here) is part of the Paralympics GB team going out to South Korea this weekend.

She's a guide for alpine skier Menna Fitzpatrick, who only has 5% vision - Jen skis in front of Menna and talks her through the slalom gates via a Bluetooth headset.

Jen says she can't wait to get out there:

"I still hasn't quite sunk in, I think until we get on that plane on Saturday (February 24th) and we arrive in Korea. Hopefully at the airport there'll be a bit of a buzz! It's a phenomenal honour to wear the team kit and to represent your country - we hope we're just going to do everyone proud!"

Jen's been skiing with Menna for around 2 and a half years now, having been put together by a team performance director at Paralympics GB.

Menna's put a video on social media to give us an idea of what it's like for her skiing down the mountain at 60 miles per hour with very little vision:

The team fly out to Pyeongchang tomorrow (Saturday February 24th) to go to a training camp ahead of a move over to the Paralympic Park.

Their first event will be on March 10th, with just a couple of walkthroughs and training runs before they race for real.

And what about their medal hopes?

Jen's told Spire FM they're feeling pretty good:

"It's just exciting to be on the place and be going. We've had an amazing season this year, we know we're back on form, we know where we want to be. It's out first Games, so we're not putting any pressure on but we would love to come away with a medal but hopefully the upper echelons."

Jen's also in the Army, serving as a Captain, and has been given some time off from her work with the Royal Engineers to train full time as a skier.
