A Salisbury woman is celebrating her five and a half stone weight loss today (Saturday February 24th), by doing something to help others going through tough times.

Just over a year ago Liza Ingleton weighed at least 17 stone and so started attending a Slimming World club in Laverstock.

She wanted to do something to mark the achievements she's made and originally planned to do a run around Churchill Gardens wear a weighted vest,

She was challenged by the consultant at the club to carry the weight she'd lost for the day.

But when a local gym let her try on a 30kg vest Liza found she could carry it but couldn't breathe.

HER CHOSEN CHALLENGE:

Liza asked her friends on social media to come up with a more manageable alternative, instead of the weighted vest.

Her favourite was a suggestion to collect donations of food which she will push in a wheelbarrow around the parkrun in Salisbury today (Saturday 24th February).

The food will then be given to the Trussell Trust to distribute to people in need.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Here's a list of items Liza is appealing for you to donate towards her weighted wheelbarrow:

  • Dried milk
  • Steamed puddings
  • Instant mashed potatoes
  • UHT long life fruit juices

Liza says it's a great way to support a vital cause:

"I put it out there and said to people about doing food and I just thought that's a really amazing thing. The fact that the Trussell Trust is a local charity and the fact that they donate healthy food to people who need it, that all seems true to me!"
