Investigation launched following huge amount of fly-tipping in the village.

Despite a campaign to stop littering around Wiltshire, some people are still fly-tipping a massive amount of rubbish.

Wiltshire Council's launched an investigation after a load of seats were left in Windwhistle Lane, West Grimstead.

So much has been dumped that the entire road has been blocked.

Wiltshire Council say they are "committed to catching the culprit(s)" but what they need is information to help with the investigation. Any information will be treated confidentially.

Peter White, enforcement manager said:

"Fly-tipping is not only unsightly but, depending on the nature of the waste, it can also be hazardous to health and cause environmental damage. This tipping blocked an entire road and it is hoped someone can recognise the distinctive seating."

Fly-tipping has become a big problem in Wiltshire.

The last figures we have were for the  twelve months ending in March, when there were a staggering 3,019 incidents across the county.

During that time Wiltshire Council issued 46 fixed penalty notices although there were just two prosecutions.

Due to the large amount of fly-tipping in Wiltshire a campaign called Clean Up Wilts was launched, aimed at reducing litter across the county.

As part of that the 'Great British Spring Clean' is coming up from 23 to 25 March. If you want to sign-up to help clean litter on those days, or to see local events, go to www.wiltshire.gov.uk/cleanupwilts.
