Motorcyclist dies in A338 crash

The fatal collision happened just south of Newton Tony on Sunday lunchtime (April 22nd).

A motorcyclist has died in a crash on a busy route through South Wiltshire on Sunday lunchtime (April 22nd).

A Suzuki 600cc bike collided with a blue Fiat Punto on the A338, just south of Newton Tony at around 11.10am.

Sadly, the 36 year old rider, who's from the Reading area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and Wiltshire Police say their 'thoughts are with his family at this difficult time'.

The driver of the Fiat, who's aged 30 and from Swindon, wasn't injured.

Both of the vehicles involved were travelling in the same direction, towards Salisbury.

Wiltshire Police are investigating what happened and are still working to establish exactly the cause of the crash.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services were on the scene.

They've asked any witnesses to come forward, if they haven't spoken to officers already.
