The blaze is causing major traffic issues near to the Allington track turning.

A caravan is on fire on the A303 this afternoon (Monday June 11th), causing major traffic issues.

The Citroen vehicle is well alight close to the Allington track turning, with emergency services called out 2.45pm.

The caravan is on the westbound stretch of the road, with that side of the road closed for around an hour.

Wiltshire Police and Highways England did close the eastbound stretch briefly too, for safety reasons, but it's all now re-opened:

There are no reports of any injuries at this stage.

Smoke from the blaze can be seen from in the surrounding areas - as this picture from Rachel Singleton shows:

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue tell us one crew from Amesbury and one from Salisbury called out to help with the fire.

They've told that gas cylinders within the vehicle are the reason behind both carriageways being closed for a time, to keep the area safe.

For the latest on the traffic situation, there's details on our travel page.
