The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will come to the city next week (Friday 22nd June) as part of the recovery programme.

Salisbury's due to get a royal visit next week (Friday June 22nd) in support of the city's recovery from the nerve agent attack.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will visit the city - and we're encouraged to go along to see them.

Their Royal Highnesses will be meeting local people in the Market Place from around 10.30am that morning, before joining a reception in the Guildhall to meet those who are playing an active role in helping the city to recover.

There will be around 100 people at that reception including civic dignitaries, emergency services, local and national agencies, business, marketing and events and arts and culture representatives.

Alistair Cunningham, chair of the recovery coordinating group, said:

"We are absolutely delighted to welcome The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall to Salisbury in support of its recovery and to help boost visitors to the centre. Whilst the recovery work is well underway, there is still a lot to be done and this visit is a real boost for the city.

"Everyone here is so pleased that their Royal Highnesses have decided to visit and I am sure that local residents and visitors will join us to welcome them to the city centre and to celebrate this special Royal visit."

Salisbury's had a number of high profile visits and events since the spy poisoning incident began in early March.

Prime Minister Theresa May came to the city in the immediate aftermath of what happened to meet with emergency service personnel who were first on the scene.

Salisbury also hosted a huge cycling event, which was moved from elsewhere in the county, in a show of support for our city.

Wiltshire Council tell us events like these 'attract thousands of people and help to boost the local economy, showcasing the city nationally and internationally through extensive media coverage'.

Prince Charles last visited Salisbury in July 2017 to mark 100 years since the formation of the Middle Wallop based Army Air Corps.
