The MOD has confirmed there are no blazes still burning on the training area.

The fires that have been affecting the Salisbury Plain area for the last 9 days have now burnt out.

Large plumes of smoke have been seen locally since the blaze started on Monday July 2nd, but it's now been confirmed that the incident is over.

An MOD spokesperson said:

"After ceasing fire for a brief period over the weekend on Salisbury Plain Training Area (SPTA), artillery fire has commenced again today (11 July). We have assessed the impact firing has had on the training area and we can confirm that there are no fires currently on SPTA."

Last week (Friday July 6th), crews from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue were called out to help deal with the blaze.

They weren't involved for the first few days of the fire, due to its location on the Salisbury Plain training area.
