Thunderstorms on the way for South Wiltshire?

After weeks of dry, sunny weather, there's a risk of some rain in the forecast before the weekend.

There's a yellow weather warning from the Met Office that's in force between 11.00am and 8.00pm on Friday (July 13th) for the central Southern England and the South West.

Any storms could bring up to 20mm of rain within just an hour, but it's difficult to predict exactly where it'll fall:

The risks from the rain are heightened by the hot, dry weather we've had recently as the ground won't be so absorbent.

Met Office meteorologist Martin Bowles warned people to be prepared for "flooding issues".

We might see a few storms... but then again, we might not!

Despite any possible downpours, it'll still be a warm day on Friday, with temperatures up to about 24C here.

The weekend will see a return to what we've become used to recently - with lots of sunshine and highs of 27C.

That's due to ex-Hurricane Chris, which is expected to head towards Iceland, pulling more warmth across the UK.

We've got a five day forecast on the weather page of our website.
