As well as being a catchy name for a race event, Race Director Ludo Macaulay says that 54321 has a specific meaning for Wiltshire.

"Salisbury is known for it's five rivers and then the route goes over four hills, we pass through three country estates, past two castle and then the Cathedral.

"That is then taken in on a circular route, mostly off road, so we thought 'you count yourself down from 54321.'"

The first load of entrants start at 8.00am for the larger distances, which Ludo say's is a surprising amount.

"From the usual marathon being the main event - this year the Ultra which is a 50K 31 mile off road trail was the first to reach 300 runners.

"I don't know why, but they find it very popular!"

All races aim to be done by 6.00pm and if you want to watch or just be careful of the runners, you can see all the routes here.
