A huge day is planned for petrolheads in the Market Place next month, with cars on display and live music too.

It'll be the first time that an event like this has been organised for the space - but it has been used for massive motorcycle meets in recent years with great success.

Salisbury Car Fest will take place on Sunday September 9th between 11.00am and 4.00pm across the square.

There's plans to get as many rally cars, sports cars, classic vehicles and others into the space as possible.

Exhibitors include Marshall Motor Group, SJS Motorcycles, Army Sports Car Racing and XDR Motors.

Phil Randall from XDR Motors has been part of the organising team said:

"This will be a great showcase of rally vehicles, racing cars and lots more for everyone to enjoy. The racing teams and local car businesses are really looking forward to showcasing their vehicles and meeting visitors."

Live music's also being held on the day, from local band Break Cover, with street food stalls also being brought in.

Deputy Leader of the Council Councillor Jo Broom said:

"This is really exciting for the City, we know how popular other events of this nature have been and we look forward to welcoming visitors to our first ever Car Fest. There will be something for all ages to enjoy!"
