Roadworks on London Road, Salisbury: What's going on?

Temporary traffic lights sprung up this week, and we've got more details about what they're there for.

Wiltshire Council tell us the roadworks require a lane closure just by the Rex car garage on London Road.

It's so 'essential maintenance' works can be done to the ESSO fuel pipeline there.

Temporary traffic lights set up for that have been causing some long delays for people using the A30 in and out of Salisbury.

In a statement, Wiltshire Council's said there are plans in place to keep disruption down:

"The temporary signals are to ensure a safe working zone while the Esso fuel pipeline is being maintained. The traffic management company providing the temporary signals have provided a dedicated operative to monitor traffic flows and manually control the temporary signals between 7.00am and 7.00pm during the works."

That work's expected to go on until the end of next week (Friday August 24th).
