Two vehicles were involved in the accident close to the entrance of Old Sarum Castle last night (6th September).

The crash, which happened just after 6pm, left a VW van on its roof in the middle of the road.

The other vehicle involved, a Peugot 308, ended up in a hedge on the side of the road coming down the hill towards Old Sarum.

The male driver of the van, escaped with cuts to his arm and was taken to hospital.

The driver of the car, a woman, was treated at the scene for shock by paramedics but didn't require any further treatment.

Neither of the drivers were local.

The road was closed for three hours while the vehicles were recovered and an oil leak  was treated by the council.
