More police patrols after reports of a man approaching children in the area.

Wiltshire Police received a report yesterday afternoon (Monday September 10th) at around 2.30pm of a suspicious incident on Pinewood Way in Salisbury.

A man was said to have been approaching children, offering them sweets and trying to encourage them into his car.

Checks of ANPR cameras in the area to identify a vehicle matching the description given by the witness haven't come up with anything, but patrols were stepped up locally.

There's also advice for mums and dads to talk to their children about the risks - in a statement, Wiltshire Police said:

"There is no suggestion that any children have come to any harm, however we are increasing foot patrols in the area this afternoon as a precaution.

"We would always advise parents to talk to their children about the potential dangers of talking to strangers and would ask anyone who witnesses any suspicious activity to report it to police on 101."
